Measurements in inches. The ABCP standard tightens with age.
The Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) uses a tape method to estimate body fat and set an age-based limit. Men are allowed 20–26% and women 30–36% depending on age.
Enter tape measurements for your body fat percentage and a pass-or-fail against the standard.
How to calculate Army body fat
To calculate Army body fat, tape the neck and waist (and hips for women) in inches, then apply the AR 600-9 formula. Compare the result against your age-group limit.
Worked example: a 25-year-old man may not exceed 22% body fat under the standard.
